The Philippines stated on Friday that the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia may be connected to three deaths in the country, according to a government-ordered inquiry, and that the drug is not ready for mass immunization.
Sanofi the drug maker revealed in November that Dengvaxia – the world’s first dengue vaccine – might increase the risk of severe disease in people who had never been exposed to the virus. This news aroused an uproar in the Philippines, where more than 800,000 school-age children had been vaccinated with the drug in 2016 alone.
Dengue comes from mosquitoes and is the world’s fastest-growing infectious disease, tormenting up to 100 million people worldwide, causing half a million life-threatening infections and killing about 20,000 people, mostly children, every year, Yahoo News reported.
Dengvaxia uses the yellow fever virus vaccine as its genetic backbone. To induce an immune response to dengue, certain yellow fever genes were swapped out for dengue genes.
The Philippine Health Ministry halted Dengvaxia immunizations in November after it formed a 10-member panel of experts to determine if the immunization by the drug was directly connected to the deaths of 14 children after they were given the vaccine.
The panel found it may have been connected to the deaths of three.
“Three cases were found to have a casual association. They died of dengue even though they were given Dengvaxia. Two of them may have died because of vaccine failure,” Health Undersecretary Enrique Domingo told a news conference.
“These findings strengthen the decision of the Department of Health to stop the vaccine. It has failed in some children. Dengvaxia is not ready for mass vaccinations and we would need three to five more years to watch and monitor if there would be other adverse reactions from the vaccine.”
The panel recommended further studies as it was difficult to directly connect the three deaths to Dengvaxia, Juliet Sio-Aguilar, from the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital said.
The vaccine maker responded in a statement:
“We sympathize with all the families who have suffered the loss of a child. Sanofi Pasteur’s mission is to reduce or eliminate suffering for millions around the world through vaccination, including in the Philippines,” a spokesman for the French drugmaker said in an emailed statement to Newsweek.
“In Dengvaxia clinical trials conducted over more than a decade and the over one million doses of the vaccine administered, no deaths related to the vaccine have been reported to us,” the company further stated.
Meanwhile, Takeda Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd and U.S. government scientists are working on a “safer” alternative to Sanofi’s Dengvaxia, Reuters reported.
Although to trust them as well would be foolish, as history shows this isn’t the first time vaccines have injured its takers or killed them.
In September the CDC announced there might be a link between miscarriages and vaccinations. The researchers found that women who had miscarriages between 2010 and 2012 were more likely to have had back-to-back annual flu shots including the swine flu vaccine that a UK court ruled caused brain damage and Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) in multiple kids in 2015.
Then who can forget the infamous medical scandal that is the polio vaccine that cost people their lives and caused cancer? This was all admitted by the CDC themselves on its now-deleted page of their website, resurrected thanks to Archive.org’s time machine. Also, here’s more evidence that SV40 has been detected in some human tumors.
A case in an Italian court in September 2014 “ruled mercury and aluminum in vaccines cause autism” and awarded a plaintiff’s family compensation for their young boy who developed autism from a six-in-one hexavalent vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. GSK even admits INFANRIX Hexa can cause several deadly illnesses but insists that its risk-benefit profile “continues to be favorable.” In 2013, two kids were awarded by the vaccine court with millions confirming the MMR vaccine causes autism.
Japan previously found out that the HPV Gardasil shot caused several serious side effects banning the vaccination from being administered to its women and sold on its markets. Those side effects included seizures, brain damage, blindness, paralysis, speech problems, pancreatitis and short-term memory loss, while another patient even died after taking the vaccine. Earlier this year, a Chinese watchdog group, Medwatcher Japan, indicted Gardasil, while a former Merck employee called the drug the “greatest medical scandal of all time.”
The full extent of the Gardasil scandal needs to be assessed: everyone knew when this vaccine was released on the American market that it would prove to be worthless. Diane Harper, a major opinion leader in the United States, was one of the first to blow the whistle, pointing out the fraud and scam of it all. I predict that Gardasil will become the greatest medical scandal of all time because at some point in time, the evidence will add up to prove that this vaccine, technical and scientific feat that it may be, has absolutely no effect on cervical cancer and that all the very many adverse effects which destroy lives and even kill, serve no other purpose than to generate profit for the manufacturers. Gardasil is useless and costs a fortune! In addition, decision-makers at all levels are aware of it! Cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome, paralysis of the lower limbs, vaccine-induced MS and vaccine-induced encephalitis can be found, whatever the vaccine. — Dr. Bernard Dalbergue (former Merck employee)
