from Sputnik News:
The first stage of tests of Russia’s Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighter aircraft is expected to finish in December, Russian Aerospace Forces Commander Col. Gen. Viktor Bondarev said Tuesday.
ZHUKOVSKIY (Sputnik) — In May, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Armed Forces would begin receiving fifth-generation T-50 fighter aircraft in 2019.
“We have something to be proud of. The first phase of the PAK FA tests will finish in December this year, and over time, we will receive this aircraft, and our pilots will successfully master it,” Bondarev said on the sidelines of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017 after the flight performance of the T-50.
The T-50 is designed by the Russian Sukhoi aircraft manufacturer as part of the PAK FA, a fifth-generation fighter program of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is a single-seat, twin-engine multirole stealth fighter jet designed for air superiority and attack roles and equipped with advanced avionics system and airborne active phased array radar. The first flight of the aircraft took place in 2010.
“What the T-50 showed today is, as it was called before, a performance, which ‘can’t be told in words, and can’t be described with a pen.’ You will not see this anywhere… Every country, perhaps, wants to possess such planes as we have,” Bondarev added.
